Ryan Paterson
Co-Founder & Strategic Director
Ryan has managed major national policy projects backed by multi-billion-dollar reform commitments, taking work from negotiation across federal, state and territory governments through formal approval and into delivery. He has developed the policy and operational arrangements behind major reforms, secured agreement among parties with competing priorities, established governance and implementation plans, and advised ministers and senior executives on complex and sensitive decisions.
His experience also spans advocacy, bargaining, campaign strategy, and land and infrastructure delivery, moving between policy, people and the physical environments those decisions shape depending on what the work requires. He has contributed research and advice that has supported improved pay and workload protections for large workforces, led reviews that translated evidence and stakeholder concerns into successful reforms, and overseen physical projects from planning through compliance, community engagement and delivery. Across these roles, Ryan has consistently worked to bring complicated, contested issues to a point where they can be agreed, implemented and sustained.
At Nightmakers, Ryan leads the strategic and delivery side of the work. He helps clarify the decision a project needs to reach, builds and tests the evidence, brings together what operators, staff, audiences and partners know, and works through the choices with you. He then turns the preferred direction into a practical path forward across funding, approvals, partnerships, roles and delivery.
